FEBRUARY is Teen Dating Violence Awareness month.
To promote awareness, Dauntlez is offering this workshopf for FREE.
Freedom Martial Arts Academy has generously agreed to host the workshop at their facility!
Dauntlez is a 501(c) non profit organization whose vision is to transform communities by empowering individuals specially women and teens to prevent, resist, and/or defend against different forms of personal violence. We do this through workshops and classes to educate the public on the mental and physical strategies for prevention and defense.
Teen dating abuse is a public health crisis and according to the 2013 National Youth Risk Behavior Survey 1 in 3 high school students experience either physical or sexual violence, or both, by someone they are dating or going out with.
The 4-hour workshop is a consolidated and combined curriculum from:
CDC Dating Matters Program
Break the Cycle Org program
American Women's Self-Defense Association program
The workshop will cover the following topics:
Healthy relationships and boundaries
Red flags of an abusive relationship
Factors that contribute to abuse
Physical self-defense techniques to defend against violence
The workshop is open to teens 13 to 16 years old.
We have a suggested tax deductible donation of $20 per teen if you are able to afford it.
Please note that donation is not required to register. The $20 donations help us offset some of our costs to offer our classes for free so that those who cannot afford it can also attend. And we fundraise to cover the remainder of the cost for the workshop.
Due to limiited space, REGISTRATION is REQUIRED and PARENTS must register their teens to sign the waiver forms. We will allow a wait list in case of cancellations.
